"Bet Gabriel on the Kinneret ", located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, was established in 1993 by the Gabriel Sherover Foundation, headed by the late Mrs. Gitta Sherover, together with Ze'ev (Velvele) Shor , the former Head of the Jordan Valley Regional Council, in memory of her beloved son - Gabriel.
The planning and construction of the building were guided by the vision of establishing a cultural home and a spiritual life center for local residents and anyone entering its gates that cherishes culture and the arts.
The house's uniqueness is in its architectural planning, combining a stone structure with delightful green gardens.
The planning and design of Bet Gabriel by the architectUlrich Plesner, Dan Weinman, Arthur Spector, Micha Amissar and interior designer the late Dora Gad, “Ulrich Plesner & Yair Eshel, Miller Blum & Co Enveronmental planning Ltd”, have been awarded the Rechter prize for its archi - tectural design as well as the "Magshim Israel Yaffa" award for its landscaping development .
In November 1994 a historical occasion took place in Bet Gabriel when the peace treaty between Jordan and Israel was reconfirmed by the late King Hussein of Jordan and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
Visitors to Bet Gabriel can immediately sense the unique atmosphere that characterizes the house where art , peace and creativity play an integral role .
The various sections of the house are open for visitation, presenting changing exhibitions , artists and proprietors of diverse creativity in varied fields:
In the Gallery – Painting and sculpture exhibitions.
In the Lobby – Photography exhibitions.
In the Small Gallery – Varied artwork.
In the Enchanted Garden – Premieres and intimate cocktail events take place here. In certain seasons the garden hosts photography exhibitions.
The Auditorium with 300 seats hosts international events performances and plays as well as premieres and screenings of the most recent feature films.
Alongside the main theater is a smaller 100 seat Movie Theater where movies are also shown. The theater is also used for holding symposia and convention
The Bet Gabriel Restaurant, with a spectacular view of the Sea of Galilee, offers an excellent and varied Italian menu. The Kosher restaurant serves an assortment of home made pasta, fish delicacies, fresh salads and desserts which always leave you asking for more.
The Large Amphitheater from which there is an impressive view of the lake, hosts musical concerts, dance shows and large events for up to 2000 people.
The Small Amphitheater, which faces the lake, has an 800 seat capacity. The amphitheater hosts singing and dancing performances and here the peace treaty reconfirmation ceremony between Israel and Jordan took place.
The Large Patio: this green and flowering patio is open for visitors and hosts art and nature photography exhibitions. Cocktail parties and premieres can be held here as well.
The Small Patio: between the myrtle bush and the kumquat tree hosts displays and sculpture exhibitions .
The "Peace Room", with a view of the Sea of Galilee , the Golan Heights and Mt. Hermon, has become a symbol of peace since the historical visit of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and King Hussein of Jordan. We hope that further peace agreements with our neighbors will be signed in this room in the future .
The different sections and rooms of Bet Gabriel are named after the ten most remarkable heroes in Venezuelan history , the late Mrs . Sherover 's country of origin .
Bet Gabriel , located at Tzemah in the center of the Jordan Valley, hosts numerous seminars, conventions and symposia . The participants in these events can enjoy six private meeting rooms, lecture rooms, an excellent restaurant and the use of first class electronic presentation equipment for screening, presentations and lectures.
The house 's beauty, landscaping, spectacular promenade on the shores of the lake and its cultural events attract thousands of visitors every month.
The Peace Room is available for meetings and tours by prior arrangement.
There will be no tours on: Sunday, Friday, Saturday and holidays
